A Few That You've Missed

So this blog has been abandoned by me for several months. Here's a little peek at a few of the designs I've done since my last post!

These were done in the Spring and Summer of the past year. It makes me miss the warm weather!

Also, if you are interested in how I did the watercolor design (middle picture), it's a little bit of acetone smeared on the nails to create that look. Google has a lot of tutorials on how it's done.

Comic Book Nails

A friend of mine recently joined one of our college's dance crews, Dancing's Our Poison (DOP). At the beginning of the month she had her first performance at a dance showcase. In honor of that, I painted her nails the DOP colors. She loves comics so I incorporated that in, too. Here's how they turned out!

One of her ring fingers has her name. The other has the number 42. She requested this because she was the 42nd member of DOP to join.

My apologies for not posting in a really really really long time! I haven't been painting my nails recently. Of if I have been, they've only been a solid color with minimal design. I thought those nails were too boring to post.

Hope you have a lovely day!

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Hello hello!

Winter weather has really kicked in here and the holidays are upon us. I love the days in December leading up to Christmas. The thing I am looking forward to the most this holiday is going home to see my family and friends. But I also enjoy giving gifts and baking holiday treats.

In my excitement for the holiday season, here are my Christmas nails!

Unfortunately, the glitter doesn't show up nicely in the photo. The red is glittery as well as the silver nail.

Happy holidays! I hope they are full of family, friends and food!

Pink Gradient Flowers

I got a new color with pink glitter. It's called "Pinky Glitter" by Sinful Colors. Here's the design I came up with just so I could use it:

Tribal Dream Catcher

It's embarrassing how long it's been since I last posted. I haven't even painted my fingernails in MONTHS. How depressing is that? Very.

I don't have any real reason as to why I painted my nails this way, except for that I wanted to. I thought the dream catcher and tribal print would compliment each other well.

I just started the fall semester of my senior year. It's been challenging so far. I predict that I won't be painting much this year, but I will post every time I do get a chance to paint!

Have a great day :)

Tiffany Blue Chevrons

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. As I expected, this semester has been really busy that I have had to put a lot of things aside to focus on school. After three exams last week, I needed to relieve some stress by painting my nails. Here's something simple that I came up with:

Hope you have a fantastic day!

Chevrons

I thought about doing a New Years design, but did not paint them in time! Instead, here is my latest design. Chevrons! I saw several tutorials on how to do chevrons using tape. I used tape for the first layer of polish and then got too lazy to wait for the polish to dry. I forgot that in order to use tape on your nails as a stencil, you need to wait FOREVER for the polish to dry completely. If you don't wait long enough, it'll peel off your tacky nail polish. Eww. Not cute. I got impatient so some of it is free hand since my least favorite part of painting my nails is waiting for it to dry.

So sophisticated! For me, this is a little more plain than usual. I generally like my nails a little more bold. But change is good sometimes!

The tan color is "Sunset Sail" by China Glaze, the maroon color is "Fifth Avenue" by China Glaze and the black is "Black on Black" by Sinful Colors.

I hope you had a great 2012 and have a happy 2013!

Penguins and Snowflakes

Hooray for procrastination! My motivation to do work right now is sloping downward due to a few factors. For one, I just had an awesome Thanksgiving break from classes. I finally got to go home for a week and saw my family and friends. Second off, the semester is coming to an end. I've worked hard for the past few months and I just want to be done with this semester.

Since I feel like doing nothing and I just got back to school, I painted my nails! It was colder than usual when I arrived back here so I decided it is now appropriate to paint winter theme nails. I've got snowflakes, penguins and glitter!

Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving and enjoy the holiday season! :)

Golden Stars

I was at the store and HAD TO get this sheer gold color. It's so pretty! The sheer color is by Essie and is called "As Gold as it Gets". I love it! I layered it over "Innocent Nude" by Sally Hansen. Since I can't handle my nails being one solid color, I had to add stars to it.

Since it has glitter, it looks so much better in person. It has a slight gold shimmer from the top layer.

Off With Their Head!

Halloween is here! For us college kids, this weekend is when all the costume parties are. We celebrate Halloween this weekend, not on the actual day. Or at least my friends and I follow that. I have class very early the next morning.
I'm so excited to get all dressed up! Any occasion that I get to do fun hair and makeup is so exciting! I never do anything to my hair, so when I do it automatically makes my day 10x better. This year I didn't get a chance to paint Halloween nails, but instead I painted my nails to match my costume. I am going to be the Queen of Hearts. I originally wanted to paint each suit in a card deck on each hand (spades, diamonds, clubs and hearts) but I'm short on time. I went with the minimalist approach and I really love it! My definition for "minimalist" regarding nails is a little different from most people's! Ha ha.

I used "White Tip" by Sally Hansen, "Caliente Coral" by Maybelline, and "Set in Stones" by Essie (My favorite!)

This manicure is so girly and sparkly! I can see this as a good nail design for Valentine's Day, too. Or any time. As an engineering major, I need more girlyness like this in my life.

Have a safe and happy Halloween! <3

Tribal Print

For me, classes start on Monday. The beginning of this semester is bittersweet for me. I had a great summer but I feel like I need to challenge myself again. Also, I'm looking forward to a fresh start.
As my summer comes to an end, I painted one of my favorite summer trends: tribal print. I love that the patterns are bold and funky. Since I didn't use multiple colors, I made each nail design different.

I used "Sunset Sail" by China Glaze for the base color and "Black Out" by Sally Hansen.

Hope you had a great summer and good luck to all of those going back to school this year!

Panda Nails

This is a throwback design from a couple years ago. I love going to the zoo and the pandas are one of my favorite animals to see. I felt the need to paint these at the time because of Tai Shan, a giant panda. Tai Shan was the first panda to be born at the National Zoo in DC and was sent back to China in 2010.  I was so sad that he left so in honor of his departure, I painted these panda and bamboo nails!

Hope you're having a great day! :)

Candy Cane

It's that time of year again! Being a college student, I don't have any decorations at my house right now so it doesn't feel like Christmas is coming anytime soon :( I figure when I go home my parents will have the house decorated, but I feel like the season is cut short for me since I won't get home until mid December. Despite that, I painted candy cane patterns on my nails. It's simple, yet festive enough to get me in the spirit!
I used Caliente Coral by Maybellene Express Finish and a white color by Kiss Nail Art.

Hope you have a wonderful holiday season!

Happy 4th!

This was posted a little later than I intended, but here's my nails for the holiday! I had to do something patriotic for Independence day, so I painted stars and stripes (with a hint of glitter!). Yay, America! :)

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July!

and just a tip,
don't text and paint your nails. I just noticed I have blue nail polish all over my phone. lol
